NEWS and GIGS

Hey all, next gigs are;

Fri 26th March @ Private party in Launceston somewhere, cara knows where.

Sat 27th March @ Billys Bar in Devonport with Ten To Go, Verdict and Lakoda God. Entry is free and bands on 10.30-2.30

Hi everyone,
We had a bit of fun in Melbourne in August Big thanks to those who came along.  And ditto for the stay south show in hobart in december.

NEXT GIG - We will be playing at The Venue at Salamanca on SAT 21st Feb. This will be the CD launch for 10 to Go, the Scandal will be playing as well. Lots of energy at this gig!

it is also free entry, so no excuse not to come along and jump around like a rabid chimp. Eta will be starting the night off at 9.30pm sharp.

Soundtrack to watching stars is a fine 8 song minialbum available at gigs for around eight bucks. Recorded live to a 2track cassette late 2002 the quality isnt overly shite thanks to pauls computer, and the artwork is nice thanks to cassys computer.

HISTORY

Eta Carinae formed as a ressurection of SPECIMEN21 who played all over Tasmania for a few years.
They released 2 independent albums, and scored radioplay on Tassie and Victorian radio, including 3RRR.
Early in 2000 Cara (Drums) joined Matt (guitar/vocals) and Mark (Bass) and the style moved away from the noisy-grunge of SPECIMEN21 into a groovy post-punk thing, and so a name change was deemed relevant.
Since ETA CARINAE have been together they have toured a little around Tasmania (Hobart,Launy,Strahan) and spent a few weeks in Melbourne Jan/Feb of 2001, where they played the Punters, Arthouse, Town Hall and Greyhound.
More recently we have had songs put on compilations CDs, 'Happy Again' (originally a specimen21 song) is on 'We are not alone, songs for a lo-fi generation vol.3' in Italian label 'Best Kept Secret'.
And 'Dolly the Sheep' recorded live from the Greyhound in Melbourne is on the 'Transistor' CD of Hobart bands, produced by Togatus magazine and Hobart Uni.

So do yourself a favour and buy these CDs and come to our gigs.
